BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 ab heute verfügbar

Ein wenig früher als erwartet hat RIM heute seine neue Multi-Plattforum Lösung “BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10″ veröffentlicht. Folgende grobe Übersicht beschreibt die Funktionen, der der BES 10 mit sich bringt:

  • Manage all BlackBerry, iOS, and Android devices, including the new BlackBerry 10 smartphones
  • Application management for internal corporate apps or public apps from BlackBerry World (formerly BlackBerry App World) through BlackBerry World for Work
  • Easy over-the-air activation for end users
  • Enhanced IT policies

Ihr habt auch die Möglichkeit den BES 10 für 60 Tage kostenlos zu testen und auf Herz und Nieren zu überprüfen – anschließend auch gerne über Eure Erfahrungen hier berichten. 106 Kennwörter die sich nicht unter BlackBerry 10 nutzen lassen

Dass RIM der Vorrteiter in Sachen Security auf mobilen Endgeräten war, kann denke ich niemand bestreiten. Auch jetzt zeigt sich, dass beim neuen Betriebssystem BlackBerry 10 (Kommt Januar/Februar 2013 auf den Markt) in Sachen Sicherheit fleissig gewerkelt wird. Ein Feature, wenn man das so nennen kann, ist eine Art Blacklist für Kennwörter, welche nicht genutzt werden können. Es sind 106 Stück an der Zahl und beinhalten Namen, Zahlen, Kombination uvm. Schaut einfach mal selbst in die Liste, die von Rapidberry anhand des PasswordService.properties files erstellt worden ist.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0.4 nun für Novell GroupWise veröffentlicht

Welch freudige Überraschung – Research In Motion veröffentlicht die Version 5.0.4 des BlackBerry Enterprise Servers für alle Novell GroupWise Kunden. Bislang waren die Releases für Novell GroupWise Kunden eher selten bis garnicht vorhanden. Mit diesem Service Pack-Release zieht RIM die Versionsstände für alle Groupware Plattformen (Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino und Novell GroupWise) auf eine Ebene.

NEUE FUNKTIONEN FÜR DAS NOVELL GROUPWISE RELEASE

  • BlackBerry® Balance support
  • BlackBerry® Mobile Fusion integration
  • Microsoft® Office 2010 Dateien werden nun unterstützt, inklusive Passwortverschlüsselung
  • Email pre-population Einstellungen wurden erweitert; ab sofort kann der gesamte E-Mail Body zum Smartphone zugestellt werden und standardmässige Übermittlung von E-Mails wurde ebenfalls auf 1000 bzw. 14 Tage erhöht.
  • Die Größenbeschränkung der Dateianhänge wurde auf 10MB erhöht
  • Alle Funktionen und Fixes von den Versionen 5.0.2 und 5.0.3 sind enthalten, darunter über 200 Fixes.
  • Der BlackBerry Monitoring Service wird weiterhin kein Bestandteil des Installationspaketes sein.

NEUERUNGEN fÜr DIE BlackBerry Administration Service Konsole

  • Der Administrator kann entscheiden, welche Reiter angezeigt werden sollen und auch deren Sortierung beeinflussen.
  • Daten können nun in .CSV oder .XML Dateien exportiert werden
  • Die Online Hilfe wurde erweitert
  • IT Richtlinien und Softwarekonfigurationen können nun individueller gestaltet und zugewiesen werden

RIM veröffentlicht BlackBerry 10 am 30. Januar 2013

Research In Motion hat anfang dieser Woche verkündet, dass neue BlackBerry 10 Betriebssystem am 30. Januar 2013 zu präsentieren.

Wir sind gespannt auf die neue Version aus dem Hause RIM. Unverständlich bleibt jedoch, warum das wichtige Vorweihnachtsgeschäft ausgelassen wurde.

Neues aus der Welt von BlackBerry 10 [Live Demo]

RIM CEO Thorsten Heins hat auf einer Keynote Präsentation die Zeit genutzt und den Product Manager Vivek gebeten, das hoffentlich bald fertige BlackBerry 10 Betriebssystem mit seinen Neuerungen vorzustellen. Natürlich dreht sich hier das meiste um das völlig neue User Interface und die damit zusammenhängende User Experience. Schaut selbst…

Wer das Video bis zum Ende geschaut hat, dem dürfte auch das jetzt schon vorhandene BlackBerry Balance in seiner neuen Pracht aufgefallen sein. Erinnert mich ein wenig an eine bereits verfügbare Android Lösung (Nur optisch), welche ich persönlich ganz nett finde – hat nicht diesen Container Charakter trennt jedoch die geschäftlichen von den privaten Daten.

Also, lassen wir uns mal überraschen ob RIM mit seinem BlackBerry 10 noch auftrumpfen kann, oder Apple und Android die Nase schon zu weit vorne haben.

Research In Motion veröffentlicht das PlayBook mit 4G Schnittstelle

Nachdem das BlackBerry PlayBook bislang nur über WLAN und Bluetooth Schnittstellen verfügte, veröffentlicht Research In Motion nun erstmals ein Statement zum BlackBerry PlayBook mit 4G (LTE) Schnittstelle. Ab dem 09. August soll das BlackBerry PlayBook mit 4G Schnittstelle in Canada erhältlich sein, die restliche USA und Europa sollen “rasch folgen”.

BlackBerry 10 Geräte bekommen erstmal keinen Support von anderen MDM Plattformen

Heute erreichte mich die Info einer sehr zuverlässigen Quelle, dass der BlackBerry Hersteller Research in Motion vorerst keine Möglichkeit bieten wird, BlackBerry 10 Geräte von anderen Mobile Device Management Plattformen verwalten zu lassen und diese nur durch die eigenen Systeme managebar (Mobile Fusion/BDS) sein werden..

Was genau bedeutet das im Detail? Jeder Hersteller einer mobilen Plattform wie z.B. Apple mit seinem iOS oder aber Google mit Android bietet eine API (application programming interface), an welche Drittanbieter anknüpfen und freigegebene Funktionen steuern oder Daten auslesen können. Das ermöglicht also dass auch andere Hersteller wie z.B. MobileIron mit ihrer Lösung Geräte wie das iPhone, iPad oder die verschiedensten Android Smartphones und Tablets verwalten können, ohne dafür wirklich Software von Apple oder Google implementieren oder kaufen zu müssen.

Defacto steht somit fest, dass RIM an die eigene MDM-Lösung (Mobile Fusion) glaubt und sich aber auch gleichzeitig anderen Plattformen ausschließt um Kunden zwanghaft Smartphones und die Management Software nur von sich selbst zu benutzen. Wir alle wissen dass MobileFusion (aufgekauftes und weiterentwickeltes Produkt von Ubitexx) erst in den Startlöchern steht und der Funktionsumfang nicht gerade der Dollste ist. Wenn das ganze also wirklich so passiert, könnte RIM damit den Final Countdown selbst angegeben haben – denn bis heute steht fest: Der Kunde entscheidet was gekauft wird, nicht die Hersteller.

Was ist das BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha Device?



Nicht erschrecken, bei dem BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha Device handelt es sich sicherlich nicht um ein Gerät, was den Markt erreichen wird. Dieses Modell wurde speziell für Entwickler hergestellt und ist bis dato noch ein Prototyp. Es soll den Developern lediglich die BlackBerry 10 Plattform zur Verfügung stellen, um die Apps die dafür entwickelt werden auch nativ testen zu können – jeder Dev weiß, dass Simulatoren Schrott sind! Pünktlich zur Vorstellung des Betriebssystems, hat RIM auch direkt das passende SDK online gestellt. Alle Entwickler (oder auch Nicht-Entwickler) dürfen nun das aktuelle BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK runterladen und die ersten sein, die eine BB 10 App online stellen.

RIM präsentiert BlackBerry AppWorld Enterprise-Ready

Vor wenigen Wochen haben wir noch über das Apple VPP (Volume Purchase Program) berichtet – eine Möglichkeit, wo IT-Administratoren Apps aus den öffentlichen Stores der Plattformen auswählen, bezahlen und an die internen Mitarbeiter verteilen können.

Research In Motion hat nun für seine BlackBerry Plattform und deren BlackBerry AppWorld in Verbindung mit dem neuen OS 2.0 für das BlackBerry PlayBook ein ähnliches System veröffentlicht: IT-Administratoren können mit BlackBerry Mobile Fusion Apps aus der BlackBerry AppWorld auswählen und diese gesondert an die hauseigenen BlackBerry PlayBooks verteilen. Dies wird auch zukünftig mit den BlackBerry Smartphones mit BB OS 10 möglich sein.
