Wie den meisten schon bekannt ist, besitzt der BlackBerry Enterprise Server ein Support-Package für die PGP-Verschlüsselung. Es wurde entwickelt um openPGP und PGP/MIME verschlüsselte Nachrichten auf dem BlackBerry zu unterstützen. Welche Funktionen im aktuellen BES 5.0 integriert sind, zeigt die folgende Auflistung aus dem aktuellen KB-Artikel KB18098:
- Use the PGP Universal Server to retrieve and enforce secure email policies
- Search for and retrieve PGP keys, PGP key status, and X.509 certificate status over the wireless network using a PGP Universal Server or an external Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) key server
- Configure BlackBerry smartphones to connect to external LDAP key servers using Secure Socket Layer (SSL), or Transport Layer Security (TLS), which is also known as LDAPS connections
- Encrypt and decrypt PGP protected email and Personal identification number (PIN) messages
- Use PGP key-only encryption when BlackBerry smartphones send PGP protected messages
- Verify digital signatures on incoming email and PIN messages, and digitally sign outgoing email and PIN messages
- Encode and decode Unicode messages
